Parkinson's UK

"We're the Parkinson's charity that drives better care, treatments and quality of life. Together we can bring forward the day when no one fears Parkinson's."

Parkinson's UK has chosen three aims:

  • Better treatments and a cure

  • Empowering people with Parkinson's to take control of their lives

  • Quality services as standard

The national charity is developing its “Strategy 2015-2019”. It will work with doctors, care providers, researchers, other charities, government bodies and the pharmaceutical industry – as well as with people affected by Parkinson’s. For us, as a local group of people affected by Parkinson’s, one part of the strategy stands out...

Parkinson's UK says: "For everyone, everywhere..."

"In 2014 we started to think and talk about what should be available locally... Our starting point was to ask people affected by Parkinson’s what they needed… Parkinson’s UK is committed to helping people find the information, support and services they need - whenever and wherever they need them. This is what we call Parkinson’s Links:

  • Mutual support

  • Information, advice and signposting to further help

  • Befriending

  • Exercise

  • Therapeutic activity

  • Self-management

  • Social activity

  • Financial assistance (local grant funding)

  • Listening to views, feedback and needs...

In every case, we will encourage people to make the connections they want to make, in the most convenient ways for them, and we will support them to do this."
